Music may have charms to help restore sight to those recovering from a stroke, a new study finds. Stroke survivors can suffer impaired visual awareness called visual neglect. It's caused by stroke-related damage in brain areas that integrate vision, attention and action, the researchers said. full story»

Don't Look for a Male 'Pill' Anytime Soon

For half a century, women have had access to birth control pills. Men? Still waiting. To date, no one has come up with an equivalent product for men, a male "pill" that would safely block or dramatically reduce sperm production. That may soon end, however. Researchers are exploring potential hormone-based products that would provide effective contraception for men. Getting the product to market, though, could prove challenging. full story»

Osteoarthritis Striking More Young People

Osteoarthritis used to be thought of as an older person's condition. The joint disease occurs over time as the cartilage between bones breaks down and wears away, allowing the bones to rub together and causing pain, swelling and loss of motion. "If you live long enough, it's like death and taxes -- you will likely get osteoarthritis," said Dr. Todd Stitik, an associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. full story»
